  •  To offer quality education and training that can equip trainees with knowledge, skills and ethics
  • To foster teachers’ participation in need-based research and community services
  • To provide long and short term pedagogical and on job trainings for both veteran and newly employed instructors to enhance their professional skills and knowledge

Current and future prospect of the Institute of Education and Professional Development studies

The Institute of education and professional development studies opened in 2006 academic year with one department; Department of Adult Education and Community Development. The department of Adult Education and Community Development began by 50 students selected from Oromia and Gambella National Regional States. The institute has a plan to open additional three departments; Department of educational supervision and Inspection, department of early childhood care education and department of educational technology in 2008 E.C. In line with Education Sector Development Programs, the institute has also the intention to provide trainings for secondary school supervisors, directors and teachers in area of leadership and supervision, Active learning, Organizational behaviors and climate, Action Research, classroom management, continuous assessment, and etc.
