Capacity building training was given for the local community and government staff on Eco-tourism and Natural Resource Management

Capacity building training was given from May 19-22, 2023 for the local community and government staff on Eco-tourism and Natural Resource Management. It was organized by FARM AFRICA in collaboration with Mattu University and the participants are: community elders, Aba Gadas, tourism experts from the Zone and each Woredas, Women, and Youths. The focus of the training was the concept and major principles of eco-tourism, eco-tourism management and its roles in sustainable development, the role of ecotourism for livelihood diversification and biodiversity conservation, women and youth empowerment, community based ecotourism and enterprises, ecotourism potentials of the Zone, prevailing challenges, opportunities and prospects of ecotourism development in the zone as well as the role of geospatial techniques in appraising ecotourism resource potentials of the area. The trainees witnessed that it was so productive training, and they have grasped knowledge on eco-tourism and related issues. Finally, all participants pledge to play their respective role for sustainable eco-tourism development of the zone.
