Background

College of Education and Behavioral Sciences was launched since 2014. There are five programs in bachelor and three in master’s degree. The bachelor programs are:  Adult Education and Community Development, Early Childhood Care and Education, Educational Technology and Information Management, Special Needs and Inclusive Education and Psychology. Whereas, programs in Masters’ degree are: Educational Leadership and Management, Curriculum and Instruction, and Educational Psychology.

Mission of the Institute

The objectives of the college are:

  1. To produce skilled man power who can shoulder society’s burden. To achieve this, the institute has intensively working on strategies which can assure quality education. The teaching learning process is participatory and students assessed continuously. Students have been learning practically in the nearby community through assignments, projects and practicums.
  2. To conduct problem solving research and projects. With this objective, instructors have been conducting different researches individually and in group. Research proposal approval follow different steps starting from departmental level to university level. After completion of research work, research committee of the institute approves and organizes public difference. After final approval, research finding are disseminated to the concerned bodies through presenting the research finding on research conferences, panel discussions, and printed reports.
  3. To provide community services. This pillar focuses on different strategies. The first one is by giving trainings. Professionals in the institute have been working on giving pedagogy and andragogy trainings for instructors in this university through induction training and Higher Diploma (HDP) training. For the community outside the university different training has been provided for KG, Primary, and High schools teachers, and principals. And also, instructors have been giving training for adult education and community development facilitators and experts. The second one is by changing research findings to projects. Every research work is expected to be problem solver research. Thus, after completion every research work should be converted to community service project. The third one is by conducing panel discussions. Research papers organized in theme; stakeholders and implementers invited to attend on panel discussions; After presentations of papers, participants discussed intensively on the identified problems and best practices and suggest solutions
