A training on "Enhancing Hotel Investment and Management for Sustainable Tourism Development in Ilu Aba Bor Zone, Southwest Ethiopia," held from June 3–4, 2025, in Mattu.  The Training Organized by Mattu University’s Colleges of SSH and BE, brought together local hotel owners, government officials, tourism experts, investment officers, and community representatives to equip them with knowledge and practical skills to improve hotel services and promote sustainable tourism. 

The training focused on unlocking the zone’s rich but underused tourism potentials by addressing challenges like poor infrastructure and limited management through topics including hotel investment, hospitality, customer service, eco-friendly practices, financial planning, marketing, and promoting public-private partnerships and community-based tourism.

Through interactive sessions, participants deepened their understanding of regulations, sustainable tourism frameworks, and service quality, while fostering collaboration among stakeholders. 

The event ended with commitments to apply the skills learned and calls for ongoing support and policy incentives, with Mattu University pledging continued backing to unlock the zone’s tourism potential for inclusive, sustainable development.
