Mattu University’s College of Health Sciences is stepping up the fight against malaria with a bold new community service initiative launched in August 2024. As part of this effort, over 30 health professionals from the Ilu Ababor Zone have received specialized training to strengthen malaria case management and response.
The program goes beyond training. It integrates hands-on public health measures, including community awareness campaigns and environmental interventions like mosquito habitat control — a crucial step in reducing transmission.
During the closing ceremony, Dr. Bedilu Teka, Vice President for Academic, Research, Technology Transfer, and Community Services, highlighted the life-saving power of timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment. “This initiative is a vital step toward reducing the malaria burden and protecting our communities,” he noted.
With plans to expand into more high-risk areas, the project reflects Mattu University’s enduring commitment to public health and its leadership in combating malaria across the region.
We are dedicated to serve the community!
