Mattu University's Research, Publication, Ethics, and Dissemination Directorate hosted a capacity building training on Thematic Research. The event spotlighted low female participation amid Ethiopia's national priorities in agriculture, health, and digital technology.

Dr. Bedilu Teka, Vice President for Academic, Research, Technology Transfer, and Community Engagement, opened the training by addressing critical gaps in women's involvement as researchers. He emphasized how thematic research unites experts, graduate students, and women to tackle challenges like food insecurity and education gaps through collaborative, problem-driven projects.

Key strategies included forming gender-balanced teams, empowering women as principal investigators, and building capacity in proposal writing and data analysis. During the training, stress was given to inclusive teams that align with national agendas, enhance funding prospects, and drive impactful research at higher education institutions. Attendees delved into core components—overarching goals, sub-projects, and funding alignment—to elevate research outcomes.
