Mattu University Provides Capacity Building Training on Rural Cadastre and Participatory Integrated Land Use Planning News Image

Mattu University, through its Technology Transfer and Community Engagement Directorate, has successfully organized a capacity building training for zonal and woreda level land administration experts from Bunno Bedele Zone. The training, held from January 14–16, 2026, focused on Rural Cadastre and Participatory Integrated Land Use Planning  as key tools for sustainable land management. The training was designed to support local government efforts to build a modern land governance system and strengthen effective land use planning practices.

During the opening session, Dr. Shimellas Molla, Director of Technology Transfer and Community Engagement, reaffirmed that the university is dedicated to serving the community in line with its motto, confirming that community engagement remains at the heart of the Mattu University’s mission. Ass. Prof. Legesu Girshe, Chief Executive Director of Mattu University Bedele Campus, also noted that the university’s commitment to serving the community through various capacity building initiatives and community service projects that respond to real societal needs.

On behalf of the participants and Buno Bedele Zone Land office, Mr. Bahiru Fekede, Vice Head of the Bunno Bedele Zone Land Office, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the university for supporting them in various aspects. He stated that the training will make a real difference in strengthening land administration practice and in safeguarding community land resources.

At the closing ceremony, the Bunno Bedele Zone Land Office awarded a certificate of appreciation to Mattu University in recognition of its continuous support and its role in modernizing land governance in the zone.
