The Institute of Oromo Studies signed memorandum of understanding with Salale University and Mattu University. The Institute has been working on the Oromo language, culture, history, and art since its establishment.

During the signing ceremony, Zinabu Asirat, Deputy Director of the Institute, stated that the Institute is working in collaboration with various higher education institutions to sustain and strengthen the research efforts.

The President of Salale University, Dr. Fayera Dhinsa, and the Vice President for Academic, Research, Technology Transfer and Community Service of Mattu University, Mr. Bedilu Teka, signed the MoU to collaborate on four research areas which are the Oromo language, culture, history, and art .

The four research topics agreed upon are: the History of Sadan Tummee; Iluu Traditional Songs and Dances; the Contribution of Crafts to Socio-Economic Development; and Salaalee Traditional Songs.
