Mattu University’s Technology Transfer and Community Engagement Directorate hosted its semi-annual Project Review Workshop. The event assessed ongoing projects and fostered collaboration among stakeholders.

Dr. Alemu Disassa, President of Mattu University, delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the vital role of community engagement in academic initiatives.

Dr. Shimelash Mola, Director of the Technology Transfer and Community Engagement Directorate, presented an overview of the directorate’s work. He highlighted projects addressing critical community needs and enhancing educational quality.

Key projects, all located in the Illubabor and Buno Bedelle Zones, were showcased, including:
>Community-Based Integrated Mobile Health Care and Capacity Building
>Response to Malaria Epidemic
>Enhancing Educational Quality through Comprehensive Pedagogical Approaches
>Rendering Free Legal Aid Services at Mattu University Law School and Establishing Free Legal Aid Centers
>Business Incubation and Industry Linkage
>Web-Based Kebele File Management System
>Improvement of Grade 12 Student Performance in Secondary Schools
>Revitalizing Mattu and Bedele Towns through Urban Agriculture
>Spring Development Water Supply Project
>Expansion of the Biogas Plant Utilizing Cow Dung
>Improving Rural Livelihoods through Permaculture Technology Integrated with Agricultural Extension Services

The workshop concluded with a discussion led by Dr. Bedilu Teka, Vice President for Academic, Research, Technology Transfer, and Community Engagement, and Dr. Alemu Disassa. They focused on the projects' impacts, challenges, and future directions for Mattu University’s community engagement initiatives.
