(PIRE): A progress review meeting was successfully conducted for the joint research project undergoing between Mattu University (MaU) and the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI). The meeting focused on reviewing the opportunities and challenges encountered by data collectors during the implementation of the project.

The workshop brought together senior officials of Mattu University, representatives from AHRI, and project researchers to assess the progress made so far and discuss strategies for overcoming existing challenges.

In his opening remarks, Mattu University President, Dr. Alemu Disassa, emphasized the significance of the research project for the southwestern part of Ethiopia. He noted that the area is rich in untapped natural resources and home to renowned indigenous knowledge holders whose practices deserve scientific exploration and documentation. He underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration between MaU and AHRI to generate evidence-based findings and promote the value of indigenous knowledge for community development.

Representing AHRI, Mrs. Firehiwot Teka expressed her satisfaction with the progress achieved thus far. She stated that the project is on the right track and has strong potential to generate impactful results. She encouraged the research team to remain committed and work diligently to overcome challenges encountered during field data collection.

Participants engaged in constructive discussions on field experiences, lessons learned, and practical solutions to improve data quality and ensure the successful completion of the project. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from both institutions to strengthen collaboration and successfully achieve the project's objectives.
