(PIRE): Mattu University has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Education Development Trust (EDT) to implement the Leaders in Teaching Ethiopia (LiTE) Program, a five-year, initiative designed to strengthen the quality of secondary education across 12 regions of Ethiopia.

Under this strategic partnership, Mattu University will serve as the Lead Coordinating University for the Ilu Aba Bor, Mattu City, and Bunno Bedelle Zones, playing a pivotal role in enhancing teacher effectiveness, strengthening school leadership, expanding equitable access to quality professional development, promoting digital learning, and providing research-driven support to underperforming secondary schools.

The LiTE Program seeks to improve learning outcomes by building the capacity of teachers, school leaders, and education institutions through sustainable and evidence-based interventions. As a key implementing partner, Mattu University will collaborate closely with the Ministry of Education, regional education bureaus, TVET institutions, schools, and industry stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the program.

Key Objectives of the Partnership are Strengthen pre-service and in-service teacher education and professional development; Enhance leadership capacity among school principals and education leaders; Support secondary schools with low national examination pass rates through targeted interventions; Promote gender equity and inclusive leadership within the education sector; Integrate sustainable LiTE training approaches into Mattu University's academic programs; Foster strong collaboration among higher education institutions, government agencies, TVETs, schools, and development partners.

This landmark partnership reflects Mattu University's continued commitment to advancing educational excellence, promoting innovation in teacher education, and contributing to Ethiopia's national education transformation agenda. Through the implementation of the LiTE Program, the University aims to improve teaching quality, strengthen school leadership, and support the development of a more resilient, inclusive, and high-performing education system.
