About the Department
Department of Rural Development and Agricultural Extension
Rural Development and Agricultural Extension as a department launched in 2012 in Mattu University under the college of Agriculture and Natural Resource Management. The department has 3 professional lectures and one Phd candidate. Starting from establishment to date, 121 students are attending their Bsc degree by regular program in rural development and Agricultural Extension and 83 of them were graduated up to 2024

HoD's Message
Rural Development and Agricultural Extension is one of the pillars of Agricultural science that works to achieve Sustainable development goals at the national level. As the name indicated the department contains two parts, i.e. Rural Development parts that is focus on social science and Agricultural Extension parts that deeply teaches about Agricultural science. So in general candidates those who join Department of Rural Development and Agricultural extension have abroad chance to get job opportunities by both rural development parts or in agricultural extension side whether as entrepreneur, employed in Government and Non-government organization. By sharing for you this hint, it is important for students to select the department to use this big chance.
Vision
To see competent department (Rural Development and Agricultural Extension) from school of Agriculture and natural resource management through undertaking community based research in rural development and agricultural extension and produce qualified citizen who should be succeeded and competent and get job opportunities in their future endeavor 2030 G.C
Mission
- To create a competent students through offering quality education without interruption and prepare the students in handling full knowledge, skill and bring better attitudinal and behavioral changes through working on problem solving mechanism at grass root level in collaboration on the issue of rural development and agricultural extension effectively and efficiently.
Facilitate pro-poor, gender sensitive and ecologically sound agricultural and rural development by producing educated human resource in Rural Development and Agricultural Extension
